I had a dream the other night

a dream of Christmas cheer.

Our Christmas Day had come and gone

but left its spirit here!

Peace on Earth, goodwill towards all

had finally come to pass

And all of man’s unfinished wars

had reached an end at last.

There were no starving children,

no homelessness, or poor –

There were no senseless killings,

our streets were safe once more

The struggle to cure illness

was no longer fought in vain

The miracle of medicine

had finally conquered pain.

The gifts of friends and family

were the gifts we truly treasured

Compassion and integrity

were how a man was measured.

Perhaps it was a dream of fools,

but in my heart I feel

That if we all try hard enough,

we’ll make a fool’s dream real..
